Vocabulary:
|
Yani [= I mean; that is to say]
dua [=
prayer; blessing]
dua ediyorum [= I am praying; I am keeping my fingers
crossed, I am wishing luck]
present
continuous from “dua etmek” [= to pray; to keep one’s fingers crossed]
onun [=
his; her]
için [=
for]
onun için [= for him; for her; for it]
dünyaevine [= matrimony]
dünyaevine giriyor [= he’s getting married]
present
continuous from “dünyaevine girmek” [= lit. to enter into matrimony; to get
married]
öyle [=
thus]
söylüyor [= he/she is saying; they are saying]
present
continuous from “söylemek” [= to say; to tell]
Tip: Grammatically speaking, "they are saying" is translated in Turkish into "onlar söylüyorlar". However, the "they" suffix (-lar) is optional. Turkish people usually don't use it. Instead, you'd usually hear "onlar söylüyor", although "söylüyor" is the conjugated present continous form for the third person singular "he/she": O söylüyor = He/She is saying Onlar söylüyorlar/söylüyor = They are saying The ambiguity between the third-person singular and plural cases, then, is usually resolved by an explicit subject or context.
öyle söylüyor [= as the story goes]
galiba
[= I think; I guess; probably]
