360: What are you looking at?

Subtitles:

Sen ne bakıyorsun be?
= What the heck are you looking at?

Ne bakacağım be?
= Hey what will I be looking at?

Allah allah birşey bakmıyorum.
= Gosh I’m not looking at anything.

Vocabulary:

sen [= you]

ne? [= what?]

bakıyorsun [= you are looking]
present continuous from bakmak [= to see; to look; to stare]

ne bakıyorsun? [= what are you looking at? what are you staring at?]

be [interj.= hey you; what the heck etc.]

bakacağım [= I will look; I will be looking]
future simple from bakmak [= to see; to look; to stare]

allah allah [interj.= gosh!; good heavens! what the heck! etc.]

birşey [= something; anything].

bakmıyorum [= I am not looking; I am not staring]
present continuous negative from bakmak [= to see; to look; to stare]

birşey bakmıyorum [= I am not looking/staring at anything]

Tip:
Although Ayşegül says "birşey bakmıyorum", the correct way to say this, grammatically speaking, would be "birşeye bakmıyorum" since the suffix "-e" at the end of "birşey" gives the meaning of "at" [birşeye= at something / at anything]. However, both are considered as acceptable.

Tip:
The verb "bakmak" can also mean [= to take care of; to look after]. See below the examples in the section "Extra Phrases".

Extra Phrases:

Look at me.
= Bana bak.

I am just looking.
= Sadece bakıyorum.

Who are you looking at?
= Kime bakıyorsun?

I am not staring at you.
= Ben sana bakmıyorum.

Anything else?
= Başka birşey var mı?

Anything new?
= Yeni birşey var mı?

I will look after the dog.
= Köpeğe bakacağım.

Who will look after the baby? Who will take care of the baby?
= Bebeğe kim bakacak?
