333: I'll shut up!

Subtitles:

Ay Can yeter!
= Oh Can enough!

Tamam, tamam, sustum.
= Ok, ok, I’ll shut up.

Vocabulary:

yeter [= enough; cut it out]

tamam [=okay; alright]

sustum [=I shut up; I kept quiet].
(past simple) from susmak= to keep quiet/silent; to hold one’s tongue; to shut up

Tip:
Although the verb “sustum” is used here in the past simple tense, the meaning is future [I will shut up/I will keep quiet]. This is common in Turkish, where the past tense is sometimes used to talk about an action that will happen (future) or is happening now (present continuous). E.g., when someone is rushing you, you can answer by either saying “geldim” [=I came] or "geliyorum" [=I am coming], although you will hear geldim” more often since it is like saying "I am already there, don't rush me."

English Title: "Relationship Status: It's Complicated"
