281: Who are you?

Siz kimsiniz?
= Who are you?

Language Tip:
"Siz kimsiniz?" is a question directed to more than one person, because of the (plural you) "siz" [=you all] and the ending "siniz" attached to "kim". Therefore, the question means "who are you people?". If the question is directed to only one person (singular you), then the question would be "sen kimsin?" [=who are you?].

Note, however, that "siz" could also be used to address one person only, in which case it would be the polite form of the singular "you". If you want to sound more polite, say when you are addressing a stranger or an elderly, then you would normally be using "siz" instead of "sen".
