Tip:
hayırdır inşallah” is an expression you’ll often hear in Turkey so it will be good to learn. Its literal meaning is [= I hope it is good]. “Hayır” is [= good; goodness] and “inşallah” is [= hopefully; god willing].

A typical situation where you would use this expression is, for example, when you see someone you know who shows up unexpectedly and you don’t know what news they are bringing to you. You say “hayırdır inşallah” because you hope it won’t be something serious and hope to hear good news, just like saying [= I hope there is nothing the matter].

Another situation would be when you hear some unexpected news, so you comment by saying “hayırdır inşallah” because you hope this doesn’t mean something bad is going to happen. Other times it could simply mean [= what’s up; what gives], like in the dialogue between Ayşegül and Can in the videoAyşegül is surprised that Can would do her a favor and doesn't know what it is going to be so she is kind of apprehensive.
