303: I am getting divorced

Subtitles:

Ayşegül, ben hem gitmiyorum, hem en kısa zamanda boşanıyorum.
= Ayşegül, I am not going and I am getting divorced as soon as possible.

Vocabulary:

ben [=I]

hem…hem: This construction, or “hem…hem de”, is used to form conjunction, meaning “both…and” or “not only…but also”. e.g.:

Montreal'de, hem Fransızca hem (de) İngilizce konuşulur.
= Both French and English are spoken in Montreal.

gitmiyorum [=I am not going; I am not leaving]
(present continuous negative) from gitmek= to go; to leave

en kısa [=the shortest]. To form the superlative form in Turkish, simply use “en” before the adjective:
kısa [=short]             en kısa [=the shortest]
uzun [=tall; long]      en uzun [=the tallest; the longest]

zamanda [zaman (=time) + da (=in)]. So the meaning of “en kısa zamanda” is [=in the shortest time; as soon as possible; at the earliest].

boşanıyorum [= I am getting divorced]
(present continuous) from boşanmak= to get divorced]

Video is from the Turkish Series "İlişki Durumu: Karışık"
English Title: "Relationship Status: It's Complicated"
